Sheol
The story Aurora spun was unbelievable. It was like I was living in a fantasy novel. Only the woman in front of me was all flesh and blood. There was no way I would leave her to fend for herself.
Running was also unacceptable. She would be running for the rest of her life, and I couldnât have that. Besides, it would take her away from me. I was fast becoming addicted to her presence. There was no way in hell that I would let her go on the run by herself.
It was time that I called Loki to inform him about what Aurora told me. He was going to be pissed, but he would understand. I knew without a doubt he would go to war for his woman. It was just our way. I had to protect what was mine. But first, I had to convince her to be mine.
âCher, I need to share your story with my club. Weâre eventually going to need their help, and my brothers need to know what they are walking into. Is that something you will allow me to do?â
âI would rather you not share my personal business with them, but I understand. Can you hold off telling them until weâre sure the Slayers are in New Orleans? Some people donât take to kindly to witches.â
I closed my eyes and rubbed my forehead. Loki was going to kill me, but I understood where Aurora was coming from. The people of New Orleans were usually very open to the supernatural. However, it would only take one asshole to expose her and put her in more danger than she already was in. We didnât need a Karen getting wind of her status and starting a Southern Salen Witch Trial.
âIâll hold off for now, but I will need to tell them soon. We canât risk your life because of your secret. â
âThank you, Sheol. I donât know what I would do without you.â
âNo problem. Are you hungry? I know I showed up on your doorstep before day. Why donât you relax? You are welcome to take a bath or read a book.â
âCan I watch TV?â
âSorry, love, I donât have a television, but there is WiFi. I would caution you about using the internet though. If that gang has a halfway decent hacker, they can find us in a matter of hours. As a matter of fact. I need you to unplug completely. Remove the sim card from your phone. If you need one, you can use mine, since they have no way of tying us together.â
The look on her face said I just asked for the heart of her first born. It was just a phone. If she wanted to live, she would have to comply. Otherwise, we were sitting ducks.
My stomach was growling like a bear, so I made my way into the kitchen to whip up a quick meal. It was still morning, so I opted to make French toast, with eggs benedict and bacon. I even made some buttermilk biscuits from scratch.
